Two years after the release of "One of the Boys," Katy Perry is back with a new album which is full of fun pop-dance-rock music. Released on August 24, 2010 in the US, Katy's new album is called "Teenage Dream" which is also the title of her current single off the album.

If you love the album's first single, "California Gurls," then I am sure you're going to love this album. Perry was able to pass the "second album drought" with this effort and managed to come up with one of the most enjoyable pop albums ever though I must admit this isn't the most cohesive album but who cares?

"This album rocks!" That was my reaction after listening to it for the first time. Katy definitely delivered with "Teenage Dream". Not too surprised though coz its Executive Producer is none other than ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year, the one and only Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, who also produced Ke$ha's number one album "Animal".

If you're curious about how "fun" this album sounds like, I'd say it's 12x the energy of "California Gurls". You're going to love almost every song in this album if you're a big fan of great pop music, that I guarantee.

REPEAT:
Teenage Dream, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), California Gurls, Firework, The One That Got Away, E.T., Pearl, Hummingbird Heartbeat

STM Likes: Teenage Dream - Katy Perry

After 6 straight weeks of reigning the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Katy Perry is now ready to move on to her second single "Teenage Dream". The mid-tempo track, written by Katy herself, Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, and Bonnie McKee is reminiscent of Katy's previous hit, "Waking Up in Vegas" and talks about the experience of being in love and finally finding that one person that will make you feel complete.

"Teenage Dream" is also the title track to Perry's new album due out on August 24. Checkout the song below through a video from Ms. Perry herself which features snapshots from the video shoot of "Teenage Dream".

STM Back-to-Back World Premiere: If I Had You - Adam Lambert and California Gurls - Katy Perry

As promised, STM brings you the premiere of two of the most anticipated music videos today - Adam Lambert's "If I Had You" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls".

First off, Katy Perry's "California Gurls" which was directed by Mathew Cullen. True to what we saw on the teaser, the video showcased Perry's fun side. It is very colorful and I see a very huge resemblance to Fergie's "Fergalicious" video though Perry's video is a lot simpler. Go checkout the video below.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert's music video for his third single, "If I Had You" has also premiered. The video was directed by Bryan Barber. I really see a huge resemblance to Lambert's first music video, "For Your Entertainment" - outrageous outfits, bad ass choreography and very dark lighting. Enjoy the video after the jump!

STM Chart Bits: Katy Perry Soars; 'Bionic' Underperforms

The new Billboard Hot 100 chart is now out and boy oh boy, this is moment I've been waiting for! Katy Perry soars to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the second time in her career with "California Gurls," the lead single from her album "Teenage Dream," due August 24. Perry previously led the list for seven weeks with "I Kissed a Girl" in the summer of 2008. I really love this song and I really wanted Katy to reach number one coz this song is very deserving to be number one. Congrats Katy! :)

On other chart news, there are 3 main competitors for the peak of next week's album chart: The soundtrack to Twilight Saga: Eclipse which is expected to debut at number one with 140,000 to 160,000 copies sold by week's end on June 13, the new soundtrack to Glee which is going for 2nd with 110,000 to 130,000 units and Christina Aguilera's comeback album, "Bionic" expected to sell around 100,000 to 120,000 units and enter the charts at number 3.

MTV Movie Awards 2010 Performances

A lot of you may already know that the MTV Movie Awards 2010 has just been concluded and below we have the night's amazing performances. The first one is from Christina Aguilera who performed a medley of "Bionic", "Not Myself Tonight" and "Woohoo" off her new album, "Bionic" due out worldwide tomorrow! Well, what can I say? Aguilera nailed it! Fabulous set which is very "Bionic" with bad ass choreos and all, plus Christina's powerhouse vocal. This is the type of performance people were expecting from her during the American Idol finale. Well, I guess she saved the best for last!

Next video is from Katy Perry who performed her most recent hit, "California Gurls" with Snoop Dogg. I actually enjoyed this performance very much! Very colorful and fun! It ain't as extravagant as Aguilera's performance but Perry totally nailed it! I really loved the stage design which is very "summery". Really captured the vibe of the song. I hope the music video to this song would turn out as great as this live performance.

Finally! The teaser to Katy Perry's newest hit, "California Gurls" is out and I'm lovin' it! I just love fact that it's colorful and playful as I expected it to be! Plus, we get to see Katy's wacky side again, which made us love her in the first place!

Meanwhile, the song, which was written by the great Dr Luke, is doing a very good job on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, currently at number 2 this week, second to Usher's "OMG."
