CRITICS ARE LOVING THE NEW ALBUM!

The bow-down-to-Godney press reviews are already rolling in for Britney's seventh studio effort, Femme Fatale. And that's in addition to Rolling Stone giving four out of five stars and Popjustice calling the album "basically brilliant." Check it out:
"...entirely unapologetic, dark, throbbing dance-pop..." —Us Weekly
"Spears shows that she can still give the Lady Gagas and Rihannas of the pop world a serious challenge on the dance floor. Femme Fatale is a nonstop party, starting off with a fun flourish with the poppy 'Till the World Ends' and winding down with the dark, downbeat 'Criminal.'" —Associated Press
"This is a great dance record. Revoke my critic's card, label me a pop poseur, confiscate my Bob Dylan vinyl, but it's the truth. Brit's seventh studio album kills as a dancefloor soundtrack." —Boston Herald
"Spears and her fans needed this record. Pop music needed this record. It’s engaging, and, in pulling the best elements from her past two efforts, Spears and her production crew built a purely blissful account of currently-trending tunes." —Consequence of Sound
"Molded by all-star helmers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, the album is a ballad-free, treadmill-ready playlist of tireless dance beats and top-shelf production." —Entertainment Weekly
"Either taking a gamble or just a reflection of her own tastes, Fatale is the most club-ready album from a major artist since Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor." —Hit Fix
"Brit's always delivered on the dance floor — and the beat goes on here with the saucy come-ons of 'Hold It Against Me,' the robot swagger of 'Big Fat Bass' and the Ke$ha-written party-girl anthem 'Till The World Ends.' —In Touch Weekly
"Other pop artists will come and go, but Britney Spears is a true femme fatale who makes the best pop music around — and you can hold that against me." —Pop Boi
"7 out of 10." —SPIN
"Reviews are starting to pour in for Britney Spears' latest release, Femme Fatale, and the consensus seems to be that the pop star has delivered 'another Blackout,' which in the parlance of Spears' fans means it's good — real good." —PopEater

Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' Debuts Atop Hot 100

Britney Spears becomes just the second artist in the Billboard Hot 100's 52-year history to debut multiple songs at No. 1, as "Hold It Against Me" blasts in at the summit.

Spears previously launched at the apex with "3" the week of Oct. 24, 2009. She joins Mariah Carey as the only acts to arrive at No. 1 more than once. Carey made such grand entrances with "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" in 1995 and "Honey" in 1997. (All charts will be refreshed tomorrow (Jan. 20) on Billboard.com).

"Hold It Against Me" is the 18th song to debut at No. 1 and the first since Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" the week of Nov. 13, 2010.

The track is Spears' fourth No. 1 on the Hot 100. Prior to "3," she reigned with her debut single "...Baby One More Time" (two weeks, 1999) and "Womanizer" (one week, 2008).

"Hold It Against Me" starts atop Digital Songs with 411,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As previously reported, the sum marks the highest debut frame by a lead female artist, besting the 325,000 shifted by Taylor Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" the week of Feb. 6, 2010.

On Radio Songs, "Hold It Against Me" begins at No. 23 with 45 million first-week audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS, the highest audience sum for a debuting title in the chart's history. The song's No. 23 entrance is the chart's best since Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" began at the same rank the week of March 1, 2008.

Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' Soars Onto Pop Songs Chart

Two other tracks storm the upper reaches of the Hot 100. "What the Hell," the first single from Avril Lavigne's fourth album, "Goodbye Lullaby," due March 8, opens at No. 13. The song starts at No. 6 on Digital Songs with sales of 163,000.

At No. 23 on the Hot 100, Kanye West and Jay-Z debut with "H*A*M." The first single from the superstar pair's upcoming collaborative album, "Watch the Throne," enters Digital Songs at No. 10 (125,000).

Directly below "Hold It Against Me" on the Hot 100, three titles dip one notch each: Bruno Mars' "Grenade" (1-2), Katy Perry's "Firework" (2-3) and Rihanna's "What's My Name?," featuring Drake (3-4).

Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" lifts 7-5, jumping Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E (6-6), while "We R Who We R" slides 4-7.

P!nk descends 5-8 with "Raise Your Glass" but claims dual Greatest Gainer/Digital and Airplay honors with "F**kin' Perfect" (57-30). The second new track from her "Greatest Hits... So Far!!!" retrospective bounds 66-25 on Digital Songs (70,000, up 95%) and 68-44 (27.5 million, up 54%) on Radio Songs.

The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and Mars' "Just the Way You Are" round out the Hot 100 top 10, each dropping a rung to Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

"Hold It Against Me" Dominates!

Britney Spears may be on top of the world once again as her new single "Hold It Against Me" dominates iTunes charts worldwide, only a few hours after its release! In fact, Britney even broke the record she set for her other number one hit, "Womanizer" which reached iTunes US' peak 17 hours after its release. HIAM claimed that spot in an incredibly shorter time of less than 10 hoursAs of this writing, "Hold It Against Me" is currently holding the number one spot on iTunes in 13 countries including: US, New Zealand, Spain, Mexico, Sweden, France, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Norway, Italy, Canada and Denmark.

The song also made records on radio, registering the most first day radio spins with 705, beating out Mariah Carey’s 498 for “Touch My Body”. It also got 7.584 Audience Impressions from Pop Radio – Over 9 million impressions in total from all formats. This is millions more than Britney’s last two chart toppers, “3″ and “Womanizer”, both got.

Not to mention, HIAM has been universally critically-acclaimed: 4/5 Stars from Rolling Stone, 4.5/5 from Artist Direct, and positive reviews from L.A. Times, Top 40, The Sun, Popjustice, MTV, Yahoo Music, Idolator, and Neon Limelight.

Congrats Britney!

New York, NY- Britney Spears’ new highly anticipated song “Hold It Against Me” will premiere simultaneously on radio stations and be available immediately in the U.S. exclusively on the iTunes store, Tuesday, January 11th at 12AM EST.

“Hold It Against Me” is produced by Britney’s long-time collaborators Max Martin and Dr. Luke and is the official lead single from her forthcoming album. The as-yet-untitled seventh studio album is slated for release in March, 2011 on Jive Records.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the song exclusively on the iTunes store until 1/18.
During her 12-year career, Britney has had five albums debut in the No. 1 position on Billboard ’s Top 200 Albums chart and she’s had 24 Top 40 hits on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart. Globally, Britney Spears is one of the top-selling artists of the past decade, dominating charts with her albums, selling an astonishing 67 million albums worldwide. Her previous albums include: …Baby One More Time (1999); Oops!… I Did It Again (2000); Britney (2001); In The Zone (2003); Blackout (2007); Circus (2008); and The Singles Collection (2009).

Happy Anniversary, Blackout!

Britney Spears' 2007 album turns 3 today and I think it's only fitting for STM to dedicate this special post to celebrate the anniversary of this kick ass album. Dubbed as "Blackout," the album's title refers to "blacking out negativity and embracing life fully". True enough coz this album turned out to be a pivotal point in Britney's personal life. She may not be at her best state at the time but Spears managed to come out with one of the best pop-dance-rnb driven albums ever! She was even the executive producer of this album, something she's never done before with her previous efforts.

The album sold 124,000 copies on its first day of release in the US, with sales of 290,000 units in its first week, making it debut at number 2 on Billboard's 200 albums chart. It went on to sell like hot cakes and to date, it has already sold 987,000 copies in the US alone, with total sales of 3.1 million copies worldwide. It also gave Britney a year full of awards including her three-peat win at the 2008 MTV VMAs for "Best Female Video", "Best Pop Video" and "Video of the Year" for the hit "Piece of Me".

With 4 singles "Gimme More", "Piece of Me", "Break The Ice" and "Radar", Blackout is a testament that Britney Spears is the true queen of the dance floor and the only pop artist this generation who could make the bitches go wild on stage.

Britney Spears to Appear on "Glee"

Via PEOPLE

Britney fans, rejoice! After previous speculation that the pop star would not appear on a Glee episode dedicated to her hits, the show’s creator says the queen of pop will indeed be joining the kids of William McKinley High School come season 2.

Britney, I think 100 percent, is going to be on the episode,” Ryan Murphy, Glee creator, told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Tuesday morning.

The show is racking up quite a repertoire of A-List guests, including John Stamos, Carol Burnett and Javier Bardem, and Murphy credits this celebrity attention to the show’s message.

“The show is, by its nature, about arts education,” he says, “and I think everybody wants to support that.”

Although Murphy says he’s not sure of the exact role Spears will play, the episode will be a dream come true — literally.

“The fun thing about the episode, how we’re doing it, is all the Britney Spears numbers are fantasies,” he says. “They have fantasies about how they can be like her.”

Murphy also addressed rumors that Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) was going to shave his head in homage of Spears’s infamous haircut: “The Britney episode, I’m here to say, is so reverential about her and so kind, and it’s about her music and not about her personal life,” he says. “We’re handling Britney with kids gloves.”

Murphy also said that he hopes to feature music by Prince, the Beatles or Michael Jackson on the post-Super Bowl episode of Glee, although no plans have been made yet. – Alison Schwartz

Britney Spears officially sells over 100 million records

Britney Spears isn’t even on the radar right now, but she still continues to sell records. Lady Gaga might be the hottest thing on the market right now, but it will be a while before she surpasses Spears.

The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that Spears has officially sold over 100 million records, making her the best selling artist of the 2000’s, joining the ranks of Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey who have also sold over 100 million albums.

Britney’s phenomenal sales first began in the late nineties, when her debut album “…Baby One More Time“  went Diamond and sold around 28 million copies worldwide. Her next effort “Oops… I Did It Again” was also certified Diamond and sold 20 million copies in total, putting Britney close to 50 million albums sold off her first two releases alone.

Billboard ranked Britney as the biggest selling female artist of the past decade, the best selling teenager in history and one of the highest selling female artists of all time. All six of her studio albums have topped the Billboard charts, except for 2007′s 3 million selling Blackout which peaked at #2.

Britney Spears - Telephone

Early this month, blogger Perez Hilton leaked Britney Spears' version of Lady GaGa's hit, "Telephone" on his site.  I was actually contemplating whether to post this one or not, so it took some time before I posted it. Just hours after Perez premiered the song on his blog, #BritneySpears actually became a trending topic on Twitter and on Yahoo! For weeks, it's been the topic on the net, with fans arguing about which version is better, Britney or GaGa? It's a known fact that the song was originally written by Lady GaGa for Britney's "Circus" album but did not make the cut.

It should be noted though that this is just a demo version.  Song producer, Darkchild confirmed that it's really Britney but this was in the very early stage of recording. This isn't a mixed version. Nonetheless, I actually love BOTH versions. They're both original. I guess we have to stop comparing these artists now and just appreciate their music. Checkout Britney's "Telephone" below:

STM Asks: Which Britney Spears song would you most like to see on Glee?

Yesterday, STM brought you a poll from Glee's creators, asking "What big star would you want a 'Glee' episode dedicated to?" Well, Britney Spears won by a landslide on that one. And as if they're already making a confirmation on a possible all-Britney Spears episode of Glee, its creators now ask fans "Which Britney Spears song would you most like to see on Glee?" Checkout the poll below and vote!

PS: I voted for "Toxic" :)

STM Asks: What big star would you want a 'Glee' episode dedicated to?

Last week, popular US TV show 'Glee' did an episode specially dedicated to Queen of Pop, Madonna. Songs that were featured on the show include "Vogue", Like A Virgin", Open Your Heart", Borderline", Express Yourself", 4 Minutes and "Like A Prayer", among others.

Upon watching the episode, Britney Spears' manager, Adam Leber hit the web to get the support of Spears' fans all over the world to demand for an all-Britney episode on Glee. And so, Glee's website is asking fans to vote for who should be on the show next.

As of the moment, Britney is rocking the poll with a huge lead. Checkout the poll below and be sure to vote for your favorite!

Glee Creator Ryan Murphy said he's considering an all Brit-Brit episode. "I'm interested in the Britney Spears idea," Murphy said. "I've always loved her. I'm entertaining it. I think young kids would like that."
